Demain, le mardi 7 mars, représente une date fatidique dans le calendrier des grèves contre la réforme des retraites, projet phare du second quinquennat Macron. C’est la sixième journée de grèves et les syndicats de plusieurs secteurs prévoient de transformer cette journée en “journée noire”. On attend que plus d’un million de personnes aillent se mobiliser à travers la France.
Selon Laurent Berger, secrétaire général de la CFDT, un des plus grands syndicats français, le mot d’ordre est “mettre la France à l’arrêt”. Le ministre des transports, Clément Beaune, a pris les devants en appelant les Français à télétravailler.
Parmi les métiers qui vont participer à cette journée de perturbation, on compte les cheminots, les enseignants, les électriciens, les raffineurs, les gaziers, les dockers, les métallurgistes. Même les aiguilleurs vont débrayer et les marchands sont aussi invités à baisser leurs rideaux lors de ce mardi noir. Les étudiants et lycéens vont-ils aussi se joindre au mouvement?
Chauffés à blanc par l’inflexibilité du gouvernement, la plupart des syndicats appellent à la grève reconductible. On verra bien si cette pression coordonnée aura l’effet souhaité.

THE 7th OF MARCH, A SIGNIFICANT DAY?
Tomorrow, Tuesday 7 March, represents a crucial date in the calendar of strikes opposing the retirement reform, the key project of the second Macron five year term. It’s the sixth day of strikes and the trade unions of several sectors plan to transform this day into a “black day”. Over a million people are expected to take action across France.
According to Laurent Berger, secretary general of the CFDT, one of the biggest French unions, the watchword is “bring France to a standstill”. The transport minister, Clément Beaune, has got in first by calling on French people to work from home.
Amongst the professions who are going to participate in this day of disruption, railway workers, teachers, electricians, refinery workers, gas workers, dockers and metal workers are included. Even air traffic controllers are going to down tools and shopkeepers are being invited to lower their shutters on this black Tuesday. Will students and schoolchildren also join the movement?
Enraged by the inflexibility of the government, most of the trade unions are calling for an extendable strike. We’ll see whether this coordinated pressure will have the required effect.
