Il paraît que ça cartonne sur Internet: depuis jeudi après-midi, un jeune italien, Sven Sachsalber, prend une expression au pied de la lettre en cherchant une aiguille dans une botte de foin.
Cet évènement curieux d’art performance fait partie d’une exposition ‘Inside’ au Palais de Tokyo. Non, le bâtiment ne se trouve pas au Japon, mais dans le seizième arrondissement de Paris. Agrandi, rénové et rouvert en 2012, ce musée d’art moderne est devenu un rendez-vous incontournable de l’art moderne.
L’artiste a déjà réussi ce genre de défi en six heures, lors d’une tentative précédente à Londres. Mais cette fois les organisateurs ont prévenu que le défi sera de taille car il y aura beaucoup plus de foin. Le président du musée, Jean de Loisy, a donc plongé dans une véritable montagne de foin pour y enfouir l’objet convoité.
Ce n’est pas de la tarte, mais c’est du grand art ? Un plaisir innocent ? Une perte de temps ? De la folie pure ? À vous de décider…
LOOKING FOR A NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK
It seems to be a smash hit on the Internet: since Thursday afternoon, a young Italian, Sven Sachsalber, has been taking an expression literally by looking for a needle in a haystack.
This curious performance art event is part of an exhibition ‘Inside’ at the Palais de Tokyo. No, the building isn’t in Japan, but in the sixteenth arrondissement of Paris. Extended, renovated and re-opened in 2012, this museum of modern art has become an essential meeting place for modern art.
The artist has already succeeded with this sort of challenge in six hours, when there was a previous attempt in London. But this time the organisers have warned that the challenge will be sizeable as there will be a lot more hay. The president of the museum, Jean de Loisy, has therefore plunged into a veritable mountain of hay to hide the sought-after object.
It’s no easy matter, but is this great art? An innocent pleasure? A waste of time? Absolute madness? What do you think?
