J’AI UNE PETITE IDÉE …

Que dirait Coluche s’il voyait l’importance aujourd’hui des Restos du Coeur ? Il aurait peut-être des sentiments mitigés.

Lancée sur Europe 1 en septembre 1985, l’idée de l’humoriste irrévérencieux était de distribuer un repas chaud en hiver aux personnes qui en avaient besoin. Après plus de 30 ans de solidarité, l’association poursuit des actions dans de multiples domaines, non seulement l’aide alimentaire.

Il y a des sections qui s’occupent de l’emploi, du logement, de l’accès aux droits et à la justice, de l’accompagnement au budget et microcrédit et j’en passe. C’est un service centralisé pour aider les plus démunis à régler leurs problèmes. Il y a même 70 Restos Bébé du Coeur pour les jeunes parents et leurs petits.

Coluche est décédé en 1986 à l’âge de 41 ans, suite à un accident de la route. La France avait perdu un humoriste brillant qui s’attaquait souvent aux injustices de la société contemporaine. S’il était toujours vivant aujourd’hui, ne serait-il pas étonné par les résultats des collectes et par les plus de 70 000 bénévoles qui consacrent leur temps libre à l’association, mais aussi révolté par l’augmentation actuelle de la demande ?

Soyez à l’affût des prochains concerts des Enfoirés (terme d’affection employé par Coluche pour s’adresser à ses spectateurs), la bande d’artistes qui soutiennent l’association, qui auront lieu à Paris au mois de janvier.

I’VE GOT A LITTLE IDEA

What would Coluche say if he were to see the extent of the Restos du Coeur (Restaurants of the Heart) today ? He might have mixed feelings.

Launched on Europe 1 (radio station) in September 1985, the irreverent comedian’s idea was to distribute hot meals in winter to people who needed them. After over 30 years of solidarity, the charity is involved in multiple areas, not just food aid.

There are branches dealing with employment, housing, access to rights and justice, help with budgeting and microcredit and so on. It’s a one-stop service to help the poorest in society to solve their problems. There are even 70 Restos Bébé du Coeur for young parents and their little ones.

Coluche died in 1986 aged 41 after a road accident. France had lost a brilliant comedian who often tackled the injustices of contemporary society. If he were still alive today, wouldn’t he be astonished by the results of the charity’s appeals and by the more than 70,000 volunteers who give up their free time to the association, but also outraged by the current increase in demand ?

Look out for the next concerts staged by the Enfoirés (bastards – a term of endearment used by Coluche to address his audience), the group of artists who support the association, which are due to take place in Paris in January.

It’s not really my fault if there are people going hungry  But it would be if I didn’t do something about it …

LES RESTOS DU COEUR

Les Restos du Cœur ont lancé lundi leur 28^e  campagne hivernale pour offrir des paniers-repas aux plus démunis dans plus de 2000 centres en France jusqu’à la fin de mars.

L’association a été fondée par l’humoriste Coluche en 1985, seulement quelques mois avant sa disparition dans un accident de la route. Coluche s’attaquait souvent à la société contemporaine dans ses sketchs célèbres.

Chaque personne accueillie aux Restos a droit à des produits alimentaires qui lui permettent de préparer quotidiennement un repas équilibré pour tous les membres de son foyer.

Mais cette année les bénévoles s’inquiètent, craignant de ne pas pouvoir faire face à la demande. Les inscriptions bondissent, surtout des personnes seules qui n’arrivent pas à boucler leur mois. Les Restos risquent d’avoir beaucoup de difficultés si le Programme Européen d’Aide aux plus Démunis (PEAD) n’est pas maintenu.

Selon les Enfoirés, une bande d’artistes qui monte chaque année un spectacle au profit de l’association:

RESTAURANTS OF THE HEART

Les Restos du Cœur launched their 28th winter campaign on Monday, providing food parcels for poor people in over 2000 centres in France until the end of March.

The charity was founded by the comedian Coluche in 1985, only a few months before his death in a road accident. Contemporary society was often the butt of Coluche’s famous sketches.

Everybody who signs up at the Restos receives the ingredients to enable them to make a balanced daily meal for all  members of their household.

But this year, volunteers are worried, fearing they won’t be able to cope with the demand. Registrations are rocketing, especially by single people who can’t make ends meet. The Restos are likely to have a lot of problems if  the European Aid Programme for the Poorest  (PEAD) is not maintained.

According to the Silly Sods, a group of artists who put on a charity gig every year in aid of the association :

But it would be my fault if I didn’t do something about it
