Fini les selfies (les autoportraits sur téléphones portables). Une nouvelle tendance est en train d’envahir la toile. Mais cette fois, c’est pour la bonne cause.
Le défi, inventé par Pete Frates, un ancien joueur de baseball atteint de la maladie ce Charcot (paralysie progressive du corps), consiste à se faire renverser un seau d’eau glacée sur la tête et de nommer trois autres qui ont 24 heures pour exécuter l’épreuve à leur tour. Ceux qui refusent doivent verser 100 dollars à l’association américaine ALS qui lutte contre cette maladie neurodégénérative. La plupart des participants ont fait de généreux dons après leurs douches glacées. L’association n’a jamais récolté autant d’argent en si peu de temps.
Le défi débarque en France avec bon nombre de personnalités françaises qui se mettent à l’eau : des sportifs, des animateurs de télé et le rockeur préféré des Français, Johnny Hallyday qui a nominé sa femme Laëtitia, l’acteur Pierce Brosnan et son guitariste Yarol Poupaud.
La triste nouvelle, c’est que quelques participants sont morts d’hypothermie ou d’arrêts cardiaques après avoir relevé le défi.
THE ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE
Selfies are finished. A new craze is invading the web. But this time, it’s for a good cause.
The challenge, thought up by Pete Frates, a former baseballer who has ALS*, consists of emptying a bucket of iced water on your head and nominating three other people who have 24 hours in which to carry out the dare in turn. Those who refuse must pay 100 dollars to the American charity ALS which is fighting against this neurodegenerative disease. Most participants make generous donations after their cold showers. The charity has never received so much money in such a short time.
The challenge is turning up in France with a good number of French celebrities taking the plunge: sports people, TV presenters and the most popular rocker in France, Johnny Hallyday, who nominated his wife Laëtitia, the actor Pierce Brosnan and his guitariste Yarol Poupaud.
The sad news is that a few participants have died of hypothermia or heart attacks after taking up the challenge.
