LE MYSTÈRE DE LA FOURGONNETTE PERCHÉE

Parmi les faits divers récents, un des plus farfelus est le mystère de la fourgonnette perchée. Voici quelque chose pour vous remonter le moral après l’échec de la COP 26. Et on n’est même pas le 1er avril.

Un lundi matin d’octobre, dans le brouillard, les habitants de Plounéventer, une petite commune de Finistère de 2 200 habitants ont eu une grande surprise en regardant par leurs fenêtres. Une fourgonnette perchée sur un abribus!

Les villageois sont intrigués. La boulangère est contente car la photo déroutante fait parler du village et beaucoup de gens entrent dans la boulangerie pour en discuter.

Les hypothèses et spéculations abondent. La camionnette a dû y être posée par des extraterrestres? Un évènement paranormal quelconque? Un militant écologiste qui se venge sur les véhicules diesel? Un amateur d’art qui rendait hommage à la statue dédiée à Johnny à Paris en haut de laquelle est perchée une Harley Davidson? (voir mon article du 26 juillet).

En réalité, un agriculteur du coin, en conflit avec son voisin sur une histoire de vente de voiture, a utilisé son transpalette pour lui faire une mauvaise blague. Un différend local banal qui a dérapé. En l’occurrence, la réalité n’a pas dépassé la fiction.

THE MYSTERY OF THE PERCHED VAN

Among recent news items, one of the wackiest is the mystery of the perched van. Here’s something to cheer you up after the failure of COP26. And it isn’t even the 1st of April.

One Monday morning in October, in the fog, the people of Plounéventer, a small Finistère commune of 2,200 inhabitants, have a big surprise when they look out of their windows. A van perched on top of a bus shelter.

The villagers are intrigued. The baker is happy as the disconcerting photo is attracting attention to the village and a lot of people are coming into the shop to talk about it.

Theories and speculation abound. The van must have been put there by aliens? Some sort of paranormal event? An eco-warrior exacting revenge on diesel vehicles? An amateur artist paying homage to the statue dedicated to Johnny in Paris on top of which was perched a Harley Davidson? (see my article dated 26 July).

In reality, a local farmer, in dispute with his neighbour over some car sale business, used his pallet truck to play a dirty trick on him. A banal local quarrel which got out of hand. In this particular case, truth wasn’t stranger than fiction.
