DES DEMEURÉS OU DES VICTIMES DE L’INJUSTICE?

Une pétition destinée au ministère de l’éducation pour faire annuler une question ‘trop difficile’ à l’épreuve d’anglais du bac 2015 a été lancée sur Facebook et ils sont déjà plus de 10 000 à l’avoir signée.Un extrait du roman d’Ian McEwan  Atonement  (Expiation en français) a dérouté des milliers d’étudiants qui ne savaient pas comment répondre aux questions suivantes : What are three of Turner’s concerns about the situation ? Selon les signataires de la pétition en ligne, la “question M” calomniée contenait des mots inconnus au bataillon. Il s’agissait des états d’âme d’un certain Robbie Turner, soldat de la seconde Guerre Mondiale. Les mots ‘concerns’ (préoccupations en français) et ‘is coping’ (tient le coup, fait face à) en français) étaient à l’origine des difficultés.

D’autres lycéens ne sont pas d’accord et lancent des contres-pétitions. On peut dire à juste titre qu’un examen doit solliciter les candidats et que les étudiants les plus compétents auront l’habileté pour se débrouiller en anglais même quand ils ne comprennent pas mot à mot le sens d’une phrase.

A petition to be sent to the ministry of Education to cancel a ‘too difficult’ question in the English exam of the 2015 ‘bac’ (equivalent to A-level) has been launched on Facebook and already has over 10,000 signatoires.

According to the signatories of the online petition, the much-maligned “question M” contained completely unknown words. It was about the state of mind of a certain Robbie Turner, a second World War soldier. The words ‘concerns’ and ‘is coping’ were the cause of the difficulties.

Other students don’t agree and are launching counter-petitions. One can say with some justification that an exam should stretch the candidates and the most competent students will know how to manage in English even when they don’t understand the meaning of a sentence word for word.
